Ask the tree experts

What does "hardwood firewood" mean? What about "green"? Does it burn cleaner or something?

Stephen,
"Hardwood firewood" is any wood from a tree with a broad leaf (no needles). In general trees that lose their leaves are hardwoods and trees that stay green in the winter are softwoods. Hardwood burns better and cleaner than softwoods. "Green" just means "wet"; the wood still needs to be dried, which takes 6 to 8 months.
