i have a lot of large oak , maple ,pecan trees and had a very large bradford pear tree but the last wind storm took it. all of the trees in my yard have lines of holes about the size of a pincel bored in the trunks what are these caused by and how do i treat this problem. it is making them very weak an causeing breakage.

Ann,
When holes are in a straight line it is usually caused from a bird using its beak to create holes. If the holes are random, then that is usually caused from insects. Normally bird activity in a tree is of no concern. But if the birds are finding insects for food, then you could have a problem with your tree. Please feel free to request an estimate and we can come out and look for other signs of insects and discuss the health of your trees.
